Hi, I am Ava

I’m a multidisciplinary designer with a passion for sustainable systems, biomaterials, and problem-solving through design. All rooted in a deep interest in nature, materiality, and the relationship between humans and the environment.

Before beginning my Master’s in Industrial Design at Pratt Institute in New York, I worked as a lighting designer in collaboration with other creatives, bringing natural interaction into daily life through design. One of our lighting pieces was awarded the LIT Lighting Design Award in 2021, recognizing our efforts to merge craft, storytelling, and innovation.

Much of the work featured on this website was developed during my time at Pratt. Across all my projects, you’ll find a strong connection to nature, whether it’s mycelium-based toys that teach circularity, or lighting pieces inspired by geological and celestial phenomena.

This site is divided into two sections:

  • Portfolio – showcasing a range of design explorations, including my thesis “Grow Your Own Toy,” biomaterial experiments, and collaborative works.

  • Saraab Design – a collection of lighting projects I’ve co-created through Saraab, where we reimagine light as a medium for emotional and sensory connection.

I hope this platform not only shares my work, but also connects me with others who believe in designing for a more sustainable and imaginative future.

I’m currently available for collaboration.
